How much water should I drink?
Your body is made up of 60-70% water, so a small loss of water echos huge throughout the body. Water drives important body functions like your metabolism, rest, and recovery. 1-2% dehydration leads to 10% decrease in strength. If you are just a little bit dehydrated, believe me your body knows the difference!
You should drink half your body weight in ounces.
EXAMPLE: 120lbs person drinks 60 oz/day (~4 water bottles a day.)
Why is coconut water better?
Coconut water is a natural source of electrolytes and sugars. The body can better recognize it versus manufactured sport drinks with artificial sugars (aspartame, splenda, high fructose corn syrup). Also, coconut water is “isotonic” meaning it goes directly into our cells. Now, why aren’t you fancy?!
Drink the minimum amount required for your body throughout the day (see formula above)
During a workout, drink water at least every 30 minutes.
After a workout, load up on electrolytes with natural sugars to replenishes the body and speeds up recovery. (Say it with me, “I love coconut water!”)
